Welcome to Eric's Computers Newsletter #3. I hope everyone had a great Christmas!  With Christmas in mind my newsletter subject for the month of December is Great Software that's Available for FREE.

Now I need to throw in a disclaimer here-all software below is to be used at your own risk. I offer no warrantees or guaranties for any of it. I will say that I have found all of it useful to varying degrees.

So first, if you don't want to pay for the Microsoft Office Suite, a great alternative is Open Office. You can download it HERE. After you install the software you can create and edit Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents-plus much more.

Next for photo organizing, simple editing, e-mailing, and sending to an online store to have prints made, my choice is a program by Google called Picasa. You can download it HERE.

Another one from Google is Google Earth. Go on a trip anywhere in the world right from your computer! Get it HERE.

For CD and DVD image creating and burning, I love ImgBurn. You can find it HERE.

A great alternative to Internet Explorer is Firefox. It is light and fast for browsing the internet. You can find it HERE.

For FTP Client or Server I like FileZilla. You can find that HERE.

Do you ever need to see someone else's computer desktop or need them to see yours remotely? This works from any computer anywhere. This is free for non-commercial use. You can download TeamViewer HERE. 

For XP users, Microsoft has a group of utilities called PowerToys. My favorite one is Image Resizer. You can find all the PowersToys HERE.
